When Denard Span boarded the bus from Viera to Kissimmee on Monday to play the Astros, it was without one crucial item. Span had forgotten his jersey.
Great… I left my jersey lol so I will be wearing #91 tonight

Span was likely being generous in his announcement. As
F.P. Santangelo a broadcaster I don’t know pointed out during the broadcast, “Big leaguers don’t forget their stuff. Somebody forgets it for them.”
Any possibility of a permanent switch from No. 2 was dashed after Span had a less-than-stellar night.
0-3 means #91 will be retired after tonight

The temporary number change also meant Span was nameless for a game. Here’s video of the broadcasters having a little fun with it.
