Steve Oleksy blocks puck with face

Late in the second period of Thursday night’s Caps playoff opener, blue-liner Steve Oleksy blocked a shot with his face. His cheek responded like a hunk of rubber that had been slammed with a mallet. Oleksy skated off, and then seemed to roll his eyes as he was checked out on the Caps bench. Meanwhile, his right chin/cheek area looked like it had been stuffed with a few acorns.

Oleksy was back out on the ice early in the third period.
