Kurt Suzuki’s first career ejection (Video)

May 13, 2013

Kurt Suzuki was tossed in the ninth inning on Sunday for the first ejection of his career. The Nats catcher was arguing a call while at-bat, and James Wagner has the details here.

“It started with the 0-1 pitch,” he explained after the game. “I felt that pitch was off and I didn’t say much, just a little bit. But in a big part of the game, I’ve got my emotions running. I battled the count to get back to 2-2 and put myself in a pretty good hitting situation and, for something like that to happen, I felt it was a ball. You guys probably had a pretty good view on replay. You guys probably know better than me.”

Here’s the video of the ejection. It didn’t take long for Suzuki to get tossed, that’s for sure.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
Gio Gonzalez, on the Nats losing a 1-0 lead after he was pulled from the mound after seven in favor of a pinch hitter.

“I trust my bullpen100 percent and trust our offense 100 percent. I don’t question Davey’s job. He’s a great manager and knows what he’s doing. Again, it was one of those tough situations.”
