Port City is ‘The Official Hometown Beer of the Potomac Nationals’

This probably reflects my own demographic more than anything else, but I know many Nats fans of my approximate age and gender who dearly wish the team’s stadium had more concession stands offering more craft beers, including some from local breweries.

Alexandria’s Port City, of course, would be square in that category. And as I just learned recently, that brewery has an official relationship with the Nats’ Carolina League affiliate.

After selling some of their beers at Pfitzner Stadium last season, Port City became “The Official Hometown Beer of the Potomac Nationals” this year, a move reflecting both customer demand and the drinking tastes of the team’s front office. The P-Nats currently have multiple taps of both Monumental IPA and Optimal Wit, charging $7 for a 20 oz. pour, according to assistant GM Zach Prehn.

Also, as seen above, the team is hosting a Port City beer tasting event later this month, that will feature a variety of brews in tasting-sized pours.

Because MLB fans should not have to be jealous of the concession options at local minor-league parks, I asked Port City when they will be in Southeast. Their answer was pleasing.
