On Sunday, MASN reporter Julie Alexandria tweeted the above pic of Nats rookie reliever Ian Krol sporting a Justin Bieber backpack. Alexandria got the explanation in a follow-up interview, and Krol admitted that the accessory was courtesy of Drew Storen.
“I’m not a Belieber. I am not,” he insisted, referring to the nickname given to Bieber fans. “Some of his songs are good, but, yeah. It’s embarrassing, but I’m embracing. I’m embracing it, you know? It’s all part of the game, and it’s just fun.”
Sure. Just watch out for ghosts in your hotel room.
Krol also told Alexandria that his first game with the Nats wasn’t easy.
“My first appearance, my debut, was just … God, I was so nervous,” he admitted. “My hands, they didn’t stop shaking. Sweat just dripping onto every part of my arm, trying to grip the ball. Just, the focusing part with everybody screaming. I think there was 30-something thousand fans there. It’s the first time I’ve ever thrown in front of that big of a crowd. My debut was definitely the most nerve-wracking for me.”
May I suggest a little Bieber on the ol’ iPod to calm the nerves?
