Kastles, Capitals, DJ Kool, etc.

“The Washington Kastles won their third consecutive World Team Tennis championship and fourth in the past five years with a 25-12 win over the Springfield (Mo.) Lasers on Sunday evening in front of 2,670 fans at Kastles Stadium at the Wharf,” our Chelsea Janes wrote in Monday’s paper.

Ah yes, but that only tells a tiny part of it.

For one thing, there was the fact that it sure as heck sounded like the TV announcer referred to the victors as the Capitals. Maybe just a sound problem.

Of course, earlier in the evening, DJ Kool had made the same apparent mistake.

Oh, by the way, DJ Kool performed ‘Let Me Clear My Throat’ next to the team’s two tennis ball mascots, plus Teddy Roosevelt and a guy on stilts.

Plus, there was a dude in the stands wearing Google Glass thingees.

And as the sun set on another successful Kastles season, Martina Hingis got to pose for a photo with Ivan Carter.

“It’d be great if we had eight teams like [the Kastles],” Andy Roddick, a part-owner of WTT, said in Chelsea’s story. “They deserve the success they get.”
