Here’s one dot of good news in a Seurat of Sadness.
A few weeks back, I pointed out that Nats fans were still short in their efforts to submit enough applications for Virginia’s DMV to approve a Nats-themed license plate. Turns out that hill was summited.
“The Nationals submitted more than the required 450 applications with payment to the DMV for the July 31st deadline,” a team spokeswoman wrote in an e-mail. “The process is now in the hands of DMV to begin producing the license plates and then fulfilling the orders.”
According to the license plate section of the team’s site, fans who submitted payment to the Nats but not a completed DMV application will be contacted “in the coming weeks,” as will fans who completed an application but did not submit payment.
Meanwhile, the Virginia DMV told a Nats fan that the plates will be available sometime between January and April of 2014.
Update: The Nats also just announced that D.C. plates are available at the Penn Branch, Southwest and Rhode Island DMV service centers. More info here.
