As listeners to their radio show on 106.7 The Fan have known for several weeks, the Junkies will be doing a second season of their television interview show, “Table Manners,” this fall, in conjunction with Comcast SportsNet. That means eight more high-profile guests from the world of (mostly) D.C. athletics, sitting around a dinner table at The Palm, talking about life and sports and maybe steak or mashed potatoes.
The promo for the second season ran during the third quarter of Thursday night’s Redskins game; it can be seen below. The season highlight is likely an hour-long show featuring Cal Ripken — whom the Junkies (and I) grew up idolizing. (The normal shows are 30 minutes.)
That episode will debut Aug. 20 at 11 p.m. As with the other episodes, there will be multiple re-airings, and it will also be available in full for a week on CSNWashington.com.
Other guests this season include Brian Orakpo, Fred Smoot, George Allen, Gary Williams, Rod Langway, David Falk and Ali Krieger, perhaps the only non-household name in the bunch. (Krieger plays for the Washington Spirit and the U.S. women’s national team; I also regularly covered her playing high school volleyball for Forest Park about a decade ago.)
All four Junkies — John Auville, Eric Bickel, Jason Bishop and John-Paul Flaim — appear on the show. Previous guests have included John Riggins, Pierre Garcon, Steve Largent and Walt Williams.
Here’s the full second-season schedule:
