I can’t promise this is a comprehensive list, but here are the Dan Snyder media appearances I’ve heard about this preseason: An interview with Larry Michael for Redskins.comTV, an interview with Chris Cooley on ESPN 980, an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, an interview with ESPN 950 in Richmond, and another interview with Larry Michael for Thursday’s pre-game show on ESPN 980.
In that last interview, Snyder was asked what it means for him to own the team he grew up cheering.
“Well, it’s a pleasure,” he answered. “And it’s something that I cherish. I understand that it’s really the fans’ team, and being a steward is so important. And I take so much pride in trying to do the right things for the franchise and for the fans.”
“You don’t do a lot of interviews. Why is that?” Michael then asked.
“Well, I think I do, during the offseason — I seem to do plenty,” Snyder answered. “I really believe that once the season gets going, it’s not about me. It’s really about the players, it’s about the coaches, it’s about the team. I think that the media and the fans want to hear from them, so I just respect that and I just look forward to a good season.”
Michael then asked what Snyder is looking forward to most about 2013, besides the wins.
“Just starting with the wins,” Snyder said. “Let’s start there. And looking forward to getting going, looking forward to wrapping up the preseason and really the opportunity for us to show our hometown fans what the 2013 team is about on Monday night.”
Snyder talked at some length about Robert Griffin III, calling the second-year quarterback “really a humble, special guy, a great leader,” who is “a lot of fun” and who has “a lot of charisma.” He praised Richmond again for the way training camp was received. He talked about supporting D.C.’s Olympics bid, calling it “the right thing to do.”
“It’s an opportunity to really show off the region, to make an impact,” Snyder said. “And I think that when you look at the 500,000 attendees at the Olympics in London and over a million for inauguration here, we’re well equipped to handle it. And it’s a really great fit.”
He also talked about some of the recent improvements at Redskins Park, including in the eating facilities.
“The kitchen is incredible,” Michael gushed.
“It looks like you’ve enjoyed the food, Larry,” Snyder pointed out.
“The pizza, Dan, the Margherita pizza is my favorite,” Michael said.
