There are a list of people whose opinion on RGIII’s progress might carry some weight. RGIII himself, for example, or Mike Shanahan and Pierre Garcon. I’m fairly certain Caps Coach Adam Oates isn’t on your list, but in case he is, LaVar and Dukes have you covered.

During a call into 106.7 The Fan, Oates was asked what he thought about RGIII’s progress.

“I think he’s coming. I do,” Oates said. “I think it looks like they’re trying to control him a little bit more, get out of that K-gun or whatever. I don’t think he should look to run, it should be scrambling, not a run play, but it looks like he’s coming and looks like he’s trusting the leg more.”

As for the Week 1 debate, Oates said there’s no question.

“Absolutely,” Oates responded, when asked if he would have played RGIII in Week 1.

Looking forward to Mike Shanahan’s opinion on Alex Ovechkin’s goal-scoring.

The also talked about actual hockey stuff, and Oates had this to say about the league’s realignment.

“It’s amazing how over time, every division has its hot moments and then every division has its weak moments over a few-year period,” Oates said. “And I played in some tough ones and some easy ones, and at the end of the day you got to play everybody, and in the playoffs you got to play everybody. To stay in this league, you’ve got to figure out a way to do it all the time.”
