Last season, Chris Cooley revealed that the Redskins iPad playbooks had a function that allowed the players to anonymously trash talk each other.
“Niles Paul told me,” Cooley said at the time. “I don’t know who figured it out or who started it. Like I said, they’re anonymous. As of today, there are maybe 50 postings. My opinion is that it will take off.”
Apparently it did take off, and someone put the kibosh on it.
“They shut it down,” Paul told me recently. “We were trash talking each other and nobody knew where it was coming from.”
Paul said that the jokes were all in fun, and that even RGIII was a target.
“Someone called Robert ‘Hurricane Chris,’” laughed Paul. “Somebody told Josh Morgan he had calf muscles like Blake Griffin. It was all-out shots being fired. Nobody was being mean, they were just shooting jokes. But they shut it down.”
RGIII’s “Hurricane Chris” nickname is clearly thanks to the young rapper’s trademark braids. Not sure about the Blake Griffin calf muscle dig, though. Maybe they shut it down because the trash talk was so lame.
