Two weeks ago, a reader wrote into The Post after witnessing an act of kindness by Wizards rookie Otto Porter Jr. After buying lunch for a homeless man positioned outside of a sandwich shop, Porter sat down with the man to talk and eat together.
On Tuesday, Porter chatted with Post Sports Live via Skype, and revealed that they bonded over their shared love of Hoyas basketball.
“This guy actually knew me because I went to Georgetown and he loves Georgetown basketball,” Porter explained. “That’s what we sat down and talked about. We talked about the Georgetown legacy, starting back with coach John Thompson II, so we had something to talk about. But it was pretty cool to hear somebody that’s seen the history that happened over time. It was pretty interesting.”
It’s nice to have that kind of character in the locker room.
Here’s the full chat. Porter also spoke about his expectations for the season and his rookie goals. “Eat more cereal” was not one of them.
