We can all disagree about plenty of D.C. sportsy things, and D.C. sports media things, and sports media opinions about sportsy things. But surely we have to all agree that Doc Walker comes up with some of the most evocative language to describe football and footballers. And Gila monsters.
He was at it again this week, with a bite that seems destined to become part of ESPN 980’s regular stable of standby clips.
“I thought the Burgundy and Gold let an opportunity slip away,” Walker said, speaking about the loss in Denver. “But let me give the Broncos all the credit in the world. They came out and took it from us. Took the food off the table, ate it in front of us, and belched right in our face.”
I would use that as my ringtone. The quote, not the belching.
PHOTO OF THE NIGHT
Karl Alzner’s mustache continues to progress nicely. Leading to this fine work from @CapitalsHill.

FOOTWORK VIDEO OF THE NIGHT
This video purports to demonstrate that John Wall has quicker-than-average feet. Works for me.
CONFUSED PERSON OF THE DAY
I know the photo is kind of blurry, but this person — or this car, at least — supports the Redskins, Jesus and the Cowboys. Not necessarily in that order. Via @dfntly.

ATHLETE COSTUME OF THE MONTH
Trevor Ariza appears to be ready for…I dunno, something. Eazy Duz It, one might say. (Via @recordsANDradio)
BOZ OF THE DAY
Thomas Boswell is off in some quaint midwestern burg covering the baseballers, but he’s fired up about Kyle Shanahan. From his chat:
What a mess. I was “lucky” enough to see it here in St. Louis. Kyle may be able to draw up good plays during the week and the Skins had an excellent offense last year, but if he is a good heat-of-game play caller then I am the Dalai Lama. Never seen an OC who could abandon the run over and over and never get called out by the head coach for it. Morris had 68 yards at half. He should have ended up with 68 x 2 =136. It was there to be had. And with 21-7 lead it should have been even more obvious….Morris is a comp to Larry Brown. Or close enough. And Larry Brown was ’72 NFL MVP. Use him. He is NOT good because RGIII is on the same team. He is good because he is GOOD.
Mark May, Dexter Manley, Fred Dean and other Redskins stars of the ’80s are doing a fundraiser in D.C. Tuesday night for the Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation. See more here and here.
COME WATCH ME
Mike Wise, Kedric Golston, Jonathan Forsythe and I are talking Redskins stuff at Hill Country Barbecue in Chinatown Tuesday night (like, tonight) at 6:30. See more information here. I normally wouldn’t encourage you to come see me in public, but there will be free food and alcohol. Also, maybe someone will do card tricks or fortune readings or something.
WHAT TO WATCH TONIGHT
Golly, that’s a great question. Me at Hill Country, I guess. All TV and radio listings are here.
