Well, ESPN.com users disagree. With this obvious caveat that this poll was decidedly non-scientific (but involved more than 135,000 submissions), check out these results. The voters rank things 1. Snyder, 2. Griffin and 3. Shanahan. The owner carried 41 of 50 states, with four too close to call. Shanahan, our biggest culprit, won the vote only in Rhode Island.
Oh, and the two states that gave the largest portion of the blame to Snyder? How about Maryland and Virginia, which both gave 45 percent of the vote to the owner.
Again, this is as non-scientific as it gets. But still, that’s surprising.
ALF AND CHICK-FIL-A
In case you somehow missed it, here’s the best part of Kent Babb’s tick-tock description of Mike Shanahan’s final day with the Redskins:
Another Shanahan draft pick, running back Alfred Morris, also declined to speak Monday morning, saying he needed to leave immediately if he was to make it to Chick-fil-A before it stopped serving breakfast.
And here’s the second-best part:
As Allen’s conference was winding down, a television reporter with a history of asking confrontational questions raised his hand and was handed a microphone, at which point communications director Tony Wyllie signaled to end the meeting. The reporter, WUSA-TV’s Dave Owens, waved off the team employee trying to retrieve the microphone; Wyllie then walked over and, after a brief tug of war, pulled the microphone from Owens’s hand.
SAD PHOTO OF THE DAY
Mike Shanahan waves good-bye. I guess this could also be the Happy Photo of the Day, depending on your persuasion.
THE IRON SHEIK WEIGHS IN
Hey, why not? They’ve tried everything else.
(Note: I do not actually believe they’ve tried everything else. For example, they’ve never tried the young, highly regarded coordinator route.)
(Still, hey, why not?)
