Photos of the Redskins’ new cafeteria

We’ve seen plenty of photos of all the main characters in this year’s Redskins power struggle: Daniel Snyder, Mike Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan, Bruce Allen, Robert Griffin III, Robert Griffin II, and on and on.

Except one character has remained behind a cloak of mystery for months: the Redskins’ cafeteria.

Oh, the cafeteria has been written about, sure. It was forever listed on Mike Shanahan’s demerits: “Dan Snyder gave him everything he wanted, including a new cafeteria at Redskins Park.”

“Dan gave him everything he wanted — full control of football operations, control of player personnel, naming his son OC, guaranteed 5 year contract … bought brand new practice facilities and a cafeteria, etc,” as one Snyder defender wrote.

“Snyder met Shanahan’s requests to upgrade the Redskins Park facility, spending millions on a new practice bubble and other amenities,” the AP’s Joseph White wrote after Shanahan was fired.

“We’ve got a state-of-the-art kitchen. And when you’ve got a great kitchen like we do, it makes it a lot easier in the offseason,” Shanahan said when the facility opened.

Meanwhile, a “former member of the organization” told Jason La Canfora that the cafeteria was on Kyle.

“Kyle [complains] about everything, and then his father has to fix it,” that anonymous person said. “He [complains] about the food in the cafeteria, he [complains] about the field, he [complains] about the equipment. He complains and then Mike takes care of it.”

But through all that cafeteria chatter, I had never actually seen this much-discussed eatery. Until now.

Here are two photos a fan took during a tour of the facility. They show a cafeteria. And also what appears to be salmon.
