Wizards, Blazers exchange online barbs

Monday was one of those nights when D.C.’s sports community comes together online to celebrate a minor but treasured victory, chuckling over communal memories, reminiscing about some of the bad times, but mostly just digitally smiling that something nice happened, and sharing the moment with friends. Or with strangers, really. But online strangers are all friends in the end.

I don’t know how many other cities could have produced such an outpouring of happiness over an NBA team cresting past the .500 mark in early February, but history matters, and history hasn’t always been kind to D.C.’s pro basketball team.

Anyhow, amid the giddiness after Washington’s home win over Portland, the Wizards came in with a digital karate chop for the Blazers. This was in response to a months-old tweet from Portland.

I found the joke to be pretty flawless. The Blazers, I guess, wished the Wizards had made a more current reference. And thus….

Still. What a night.

A CHEESE CRIME

Forgive me for straying from the Wizards, but this is serious.
