Otto Porter’s first NBA three-pointers

Otto Porter made 43 of his 102 three-point attempts at Georgetown last year, leading the Hoyas in long-distance accuracy.

Then he was drafted third overall by the Wizards.

So if I had to guess, I probably would have suggested that he’d make his first NBA three-pointer before, say, March.

Woulda been wrong, too. Porter missed the first 10 three-pointers he attempted in the league, 10 shots that were taken over nine different games. Wasn’t exactly just getting a ton of long-distance chances, in other words.

Porter was still 0-for-his-career entering the fourth quarter Monday night. But then he hit a three-pointer after a wild scramble for the ball.

He missed another one, but then made a late attempt to keep the Wizards’ frantic comeback attempt alive. That last shot made teammates — and fans — rejoice.

So now Porter is 2-for-13 for his career. Something to build on, anyhow.
