Kaine, Warner pick Virginia to win the national championship

President Obama may not be interested in giving a proximity bonus to local schools in the NCAA tournament, but Virginia’s U.S. Senators sure are. Of course, Tim Kaine and Mark Warner answer to Virginia voters; Obama doesn’t exactly report to the fine folks from Foggy Bottom.

Which is why it makes sense that both of the Commonwealth’s U.S. senators picked the University of Virginia to win the national championship next month. They both also picked VCU to beat UCLA and advance to the sweet 16. And, for good measure, they both picked George Washington to win its opening game. Way to be neighborly, sirs.

JOE MANDE ON THE WIZARDS

New to me: the guy who came up with the House of Guards name for John Wall and Bradley Beal is also the guy who chased Gilbert Arenas off Twitter. Has any single stand-up comedian been involved in more social media stories involving the Wizards back court? He talked to David Malitz about it.

ANDRE ROBERTS ON RGIII

New Redskins receiver Andre Roberts talked with ESPN.com’s John Keim, and had this to say about his new quarterback:

“You could tell he has that fire and that passion and that motivation to get better every day. When you have a guy that talented, that’s that motivated and willing to work, the sky’s the limit. Being a receiver, having a quarterback like that, that’s what you want, especially in a passing offense which we will be in now for the most part. When you have a quarterback that’s motivated and coming off the year he had with a chip on his shoulder, that’s what you want as a receiver.”

Getty’s Bruce Bennett shot the Caps-Ducks game Tuesday night using an infrared camera.
