RGIII, Redskins pose with Michael Irvin at passing camp

We’ve heard for weeks about this month’s RGIII-led passing camp in Phoenix, featuring the quarterback and a posse of Redskins skill-position players. From the Insider:

Redskins wide receivers Pierre Garcon, Aldrick Robinson, Santana Moss, and new additions Andre Roberts and David Gettis will make the trip. The group also includes tight end Jordan Reed and running backs Alfred Morris, Evan Royster and Chris Thompson…..The players will spend the week working at a training facility in Phoenix.

Well, here they are. I spy Garcon, Moss, Reed, Griffin, Roberts and….Michael Irvin? Carrying a fancy satchel? The heck?

Don’t know what the Cowboys Hall of Famer was doing there, exactly, but this is at least the second time Griffin and Irvin have been together in Phoenix this offseason. Earlier in the month, they both participated in Kurt Warner’s charity flag football tournament, with Griffin mocking Irvin’s quarterbacking skills.

“He can’t pump-fake seven times,” Griffin joked with Alexan Balekian of Phoenix’s 12 News. “He can’t throw seven pumps out there.”

Anyhow, the movement has started. Or the #Movement, I suppose.

DANIEL SNYDER’S LETTER

An excerpt from Daniel Snyder’s letter announcing the formation of the Original Americans Foundation, which presumably will not be known as OAF:

Yes, some tribes are doing well. And in our candid conversations, we learned that we share so much with Indian country. We find their appreciation of history, legacy, caring for their elders and providing a better future for their youth inspirational and admirable.

But the fact is, too many Native American communities face much harsher, much more alarming realities. They have genuine issues they truly are worried about, and our team’s name is not one of them.

The AP spoke with Suzan Shown Harjo, one of the most outspoken leaders of the anti-name effort.

“I’m glad that he’s had a realization that Native Americans have it tough in the United States,” she said. “All sorts of people could have told him that, and have been trying to tell him that for a long time.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Wagner has a great story about Adam LaRoche’s gaggle of celebrity friends. Here’s Dan Uggla:

“A lot of country music stars like to hunt and fish,” said Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla, never a teammate of LaRoche’s but a friend through his brother. “And Adam likes to hunt and fish. Adam’s got ranches, so do country music stars. Those guys want to be athletes and we want to be rock stars. It’s a good fit.”
