Last year, when the Nationals scored six runs in a home game, fans could bring their ticket or season plan-holder card to any local Hard Times Cafe within two days of the game date to receive a free order of wings.
That promotion is no more, but if you’ve come to depend on the Nationals’ bats to put food on your table a few times per homestand, don’t despair.
This season, fans who download the McDonald’s app are entitled to a free six-piece chicken nuggets at any of the Washington area’s 400-plus McDonald’s when the Nationals score at least six runs in a home game. The best part (if you’re into nuggets)? The promotion, which is valid until 11:59 p.m. the next day, applies even if you didn’t attend the game.
“Free nuggets for the entire universe,” John Knebel, Nationals vice president and managing director of corporate partnerships and business development, told me.
By my count, the Nationals scored at least six runs in 27 home games last year, which would’ve been good for 162
126 free nuggets. It’s fair to say that Bryce Harper would not approve of this promotion, but here’s hoping he can help the rest of us do horrible things to our bodies if we so choose.
Knebel said the promotion is one part of the Nationals’ new partnership with McDonald’s. The first Nationals run of every home game will be brought to you by McDonald’s and you’ll be seeing a lot more of the golden arches on MASN broadcasts and at Nationals Park.
Hard Times fans will be happy to know that the Nationals renewed their partnership with the chili chain and the Hard Times concession stand remains in the left field corner of the main concourse.
