D.C. rapper Styme (née Aaron Morton) thought the Washington Wizards deserved a playoff anthem, so he wrote one in less time than it takes to play the final minute of a tight game.

“I woke up one morning, already had the hook done,” the 23-year-old Dunbar High School graduate told WTOP. “So what I did was wrote the verse … in like 20 minutes. I was like ‘Yeah, this is the one.’ So I went smooth to the studio and recorded it.”

The result is “I’m Gettin’ It,” which features verses like this one:

We gotta crash them boards,
So we must box out,
We gotta grab rebounds,
And tell em this our house.

I asked the Wizards if fans could expect to hear “I’m Gettin’ It” at Verizon Center during Game 3.

“That song is not our official anthem and this artist is not involved in any of our projects,” a team spokesperson e-mailed me.

Styme hopes to be there, though.

If the Wizards were to create their own official playoff anthem, they could do a lot worse than remaking this gem from 20 years ago.
