Redskins’ Niles Paul throws a Hail Mary to himself

High school recruit Gary Haynes got tons of Internet attention in recent days for this six-second clip in which he throws a Hail Mary to himself.

Gary Haynes of Manvel, Texas made a video of throwing and catching his own 40-yard hail mary pass that went viral, a popular feat that he hopes will turn into a college scholarship. (AP)

“This one-man pass-and-catch is the most athletic thing on Vine,” SB Nation wrote.

The clip also made SI.com, Yahoo, Bleacher Report, DeadspinFox Sports and every other site where fine Internet sports content is sold.

Which, of course, got at least one NFL player thinking.

That would be Redskins tight end Niles Paul, whose friend Nate Prater showed him the video. After debating whether it was real or fake, the duo decided to re-create Haynes’s stunt. This video clip was recorded Wednesday at Redskins Park. There is a lot of screaming.
