Back home in South Carolina this week hosting a youth basketball camp in Mauldin, Wizards forward Trevor Booker was invited by the Greenville Drive to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Wednesday’s minor league game.
Booker, who said baseball was his first love before shoulder problems led him to focus on basketball, accepted.
“I threw out the first pitch at a Clemson game several years ago, but I’ve seen a couple of bad first pitches since then – 50 Cent, John Wall – so I’m just hoping I can get it to the glove,” Booker, who played his college basketball at nearby Clemson, told the Greenville News.
Wall, of course, was responsible for this awful first pitch at Nationals Park in 2011, and 50 Cent threw the worst first pitch in the history of ceremonial first pitches last month.
Booker threw a strike and couldn’t resist the opportunity to rib his point guard on Instagram.
Big thanks to the Greenville Drive for having me tonight. John take notes lol
Olympic swimmer, O’Connell grad and former All-Met Kate Ziegler was also at the game to promote competitive youth swimming across Greenville County.
