Don’t give your opinion on the Redskins name if you’re a wanted fugitive

No matter where you stand on the Redskins name debate, you probably shouldn’t give your opinion on the matter and allow it to be printed along with your real name and a photo in your local newspaper if you’re a wanted fugitive. (This is especially true if your proposed solution is to keep the name but change the mascot to a potato.)

Jake Close was sent to prison on $25,000 bail after the 25-year-old college student’s name, photo and awful joke appeared in the Bloomsburg (Pa.) Press Enterprise’s weekly  “Your Opinion” featureThe potato suggestion wasn’t Close’s only crime, though.

The Press Enterprise reports that Close jumped bail on a drunken-driving case in Ithaca, N.Y., several years ago and Bloomsburg University police had been looking for him after being notified by Ithaca City Police in May. A campus cop saw Close’s mug in the newspaper last Monday and arrested him Sunday.
