DeSean Jackson visits high school alma mater ahead of ESPYs

July 16, 2014

Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson’s busy offseason has taken him coast to coast. On Saturday, he was getting trucked by former Eagles teammate LeSean McCoy at a charity basketball game outside of Philadelphia. On Tuesday, he was in California visiting his high school alma mater, Long Beach Poly, where former Redskins and Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce is preparing for his first season as head football coach.

Pierce replaced Raul Lara, who coached Jackson and resigned in December after leading Poly to a school-record five CIF titles in 13 seasons.

Jackson is apparently in town for the ESPYs, and while he graces the cover of ESPN the Magazine’s ‘Comeback Issue’, he is not a nominee for ‘Best Comeback Athlete’ (or any other award).

In other DeSean Jackson minutiae, his game-winning punt return for a touchdown as time expired against the Giants in 2010 is in the quarterfinals of ESPN’s “All-Time Memorable Plays” bracket. John Riggins’s 43-yard touchdown run in Super Bowl XVII was eliminated in Tuesday’s second round by Marshawn Lynch’s ‘Beast Mode’ run in the 2011 playoffs.
