Nationals issue ‘presidential pardon’ for fans to attend weekday afternoon games

Borrowing a page from Jurgen Klinsmann, who tweeted a personalized note excusing soccer fans from work on the day of the U.S.-Germany game, the Washington Nationals’ Racing Presidents signed a presidential pardon last week that excuses Nats fans from previous engagements to attend weekday afternoon games on August 7, August 21 and September 10.

This is silly, sure, but no more so than the White House encouraging the public to vote for which turkey — #TeamPopcorn or #TeamCaramel — should be pardoned as the National Thanksgiving Turkey.

#TeamWeekdayAfternoonGame. The Racing Presidents’ letter looks a lot more official than Klinsmann’s, anyhow.
