Nats Park ‘DMV’ hot dog combines a half-smoke with Maryland crab dip and Virginia ham

The Nationals have gotten plenty of headlines for their varied concessions in recent years, but somehow I had never heard about The DMV.

As seen here, that fan favorite combines a D.C. footlong half-smoke with Maryland crab cheese and Virginia ham. That’s three different sorts of locally flavored dead animals in just one sandwich!

Reader @RyanJKelly encountered that hot dog Tuesday night at the Grand Slam Grill in Section 141 and sent along this photo.

Truth be told, there’s a mite bit of a confusion about The DMV. The team’s concession guide says it’s available only at the Triple Play Grill in section 210; obviously that isn’t the case.

Washington Business Journal reported that The DMV is new in 2014, but I’m not entirely sure about that, either. Indeed, a reader reported that he had the DMV in the club level in 2013.

Either way, it’s a novel concept. An editor suggests this conceit be transferred to beer, as well. Maybe a Black and Tan (and Tan), featuring a layer of Port City Porter between Atlas’s District Common and Flying Dog’s Old Scratch Lager. Or maybe not.
