The Nationals are riding high after Sunday’s wild, 6-5 win at Nationals Park extended their winning streak to a season-high six games. As James Wagner noted today, the Nationals now own the best winning percentage (.566), best run differential (+92) and biggest division lead (6 games) in the National League.
ESPN puts Washington’s chances of making the playoffs at 97.7 percent and FanGraphs calculates the Nationals’ chances of winning the World Series at 18.3 percent, which makes them the favorite at this point in the season.

Teddy got (more) revenge.
The Pirates’ Racing Pierogies were in town, which meant Teddy was targeting Potato Pete. Teddy’s still getting payback from the time Pete leveled him at PNC Park five years ago.

The Nationals won in extra innings. Again.
The Nationals are only 6-8 in extra-inning games this year, but they’ve won their last four such games and five of their last six.
The Nationals won in front of a large home crowd.
Saturday’s crowd of 41,880 marked the eighth crowd of at least 40,000 fans at Nationals Park this season. Wilson Ramos’s ninth-inning double to score Bryce Harper clinched the second win for the Nationals in those games.
Asdrubal Cabrera did this.
The Nationals survived a Soriano meltdown, much to Pirates Kid’s chagrin.
We’ve been there, Pirates Kid. A half-inning ago, in fact.
Washington’s Magic Number is 34.
