The Nationals entered the bottom of the eighth inning Monday trailing the Diamondbacks, 3-2, but Doug Fister had a little magic up his sleeve. (Tucked into his shirt, really.)
Denard Span doubled and scored on Anthony Rendon’s triple to tie the game. After Jayson Werth scored Rendon with a sacrifice fly to give the Nationals the lead, Fister was spotted in the Nationals dugout with a Jayson Werth garden gnome peeking out from the neck hole of his shirt. The power of the #RallyGnome is real.
The Nationals blew the lead in the ninth before winning in walk-off fashion in the 11th, which means the #RallyGnome should make another appearance soon.
Thanks to @JWerthGnome for the Vine.
