Watching Redskins running back Lache Seastrunk catch a screen pass from Colt McCoy and race 80 yards down the sideline for a touchdown on Thursday in Tampa, it was easy to forget, if only for a few seconds, that you were watching a preseason game and that the defenders the rookie from Baylor burned might not make the Buccaneers’ roster.

If you were doing something better with your time — say, watching college football games that count — here’s Seastrunk’s blistering catch-and-run.

Seastrunk needed a strong showing to prove he deserved a spot on the 53-man roster, and his mom predicted he would have one.

“Honestly, I felt my grandma with me the whole way,” Seastrunk told Comcast SportsNet’s Rob Carlin after the game. “My mom told me last night, right before I laid my head down, she said, ‘Son, you’re going to get your touchdown.’ I was like, okay, I claim that too. The funny thing is, ironically, it was my first play, and I really just felt my grandma run with me. I know she’s up in heaven.”

Then Seastrunk looked up and offered a slight wave.

“I love you with all my heart,” he said. “She’s probably up there drinking a martini or something.”

Grandma Seastrunk has some wheels.
