When Stephen Strasburg accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge two weeks ago, he nominated Nationals pitching coach Steve McCatty, Nationals bat boy Adam Silverstein, and his agent, Scott Boras. I’m not sure whether McCatty and Silverstein accepted the challenge, but Boras did — five times over — before Washington’s 4-1 loss to the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday.
Strasburg dumped the first bucket on Boras, who promised to donate $1,000 per bucket. A steady stream of his Nationals clients followed, with Bryce Harper, Danny Espinosa, Anthony Rendon and Rafael Soriano all getting in on the fun. Soriano, who was already untucked, finished the job, prompting Boras to stand up and say, “You know what, you can close.”
