Kelly Valentine, the director of the District agency that failed to pay insurance premiums for disabled employees, was placed on administrative leave Thursday, according to a news release.
Last month, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) and Attorney General Peter J. Nickles announced that a preliminary investigation found that the Office of Risk Management did not transfer $3 million to $6 million deducted from the paychecks of 1,400 city workers to insurance companies to pay their premiums.
The error came to light during employees' testimony at D.C. Council hearings held by Council member Mary M. Cheh (D-Ward 3).
Chip Richardson, the mayor's general counsel, will serve as the agency's new director on an interim basis. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Kai Blissett, deputy director of the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs.
