At D.C. council breakfast, no talk of Barry -- but of Peeps

At a D.C. Council breakfast meeting Tuesday morning, members did not discuss any of the Barry censure legislation. Barry did not show up until the end of the breakfast, first shaking hands with media and then proceeding to fill his plate. The council member said he had no comment. When asked if he would speak on the dais, he asked, "What do you think?"


Barry entered the conference room as Council member Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) showed off her office's entry into The Washington Post's Peeps contest.

The display shows council members as bunnies and chicks on the dais with citizens and media in the audience. Washington Post reporter Tim Craig is a green chick with notepad. Some Peeps appear to be protesters with one sign reading, "No Justice! No Peeps!"

Meanwhile, the display caused some dismay for Council members Kwame R. Brown (D-At Large) and Harry Thomas Jr. (D-Ward 5). All 13 council members could not fit on the dais so the two members are shown behind them playing golf. Not funny, they said.
Cheh, however, explained that there wasn't room for everyone and said, "We needed some action."
