Did D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles take his political battle with the D.C. Council a bit too far when he referred to council member Mary M. Cheh (D-Ward 3) as an "angry woman?"
Council member Kwame R. Brown (D-At Large) thinks so. Brown, a potential candidate for mayor next year, issued a statement this morning demanding that Nickles publicly apologize to Cheh.
"This is just another example of how the Attorney General has stepped over the line and stooped to the lowest levels," Brown said. "Council member Cheh is a respected lawyer and professor whose opinion about the law I have the utmost respect."
Nickles made his comments in response to Cheh's assertion that Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) was overseeing an "almost lawless administration."
Nickles was unavailable to comment this morning. But his staff said he probably would have something to say about Brown's statement later today.
