The D.C. Council will vote Tuesday on three different resolutions to address the latest troubles of Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) at a special 1 p.m. meeting.
The first resolution could result in the council censuring Barry and reporting the findings of an investigation into contracts in his office to the Office of Campaign Finance and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
A second resolution could remove Barry as chairman of the Committee on Housing and Workforce Development and name Michael Brown (I-At Large) as his replacement. Barry could remain on the committee. He could, however, be removed from the Committee on Finance and Revenue. Council member Harry Thomas Jr. (D-Ward 5) would replace him.
The resolution also could temporarily move oversight of taxicabs and permanently move supervision of statehood efforts to the Committee on Aging and Community Affairs headed by Council member Yvette M. Alexander (D-Ward 7).
Brown, a freshman who previously had no standing committee, oversaw both issues through special committees.
A third resolution would adopt a policy for censuring and reprimanding council members, though Gray said it is not needed for actions the council will take up Tuesday. He said the council will apply Robert's Rules of Order to the vote on the resolutions.
