District sets up sites to collect spoiled food

D.C. residents can dispose of spoiled food from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at four sites that the city Department of Public Works has set up.

Hurricane Sandy knocked the power out to more than 10,000 Pepco customers, but a majority had been restored by Tuesday.

Trucks will park at the sites and will not take other items. Regular trash pickup has resumed, but residents with pickups on Monday and Tuesday will have to wait until this coming Monday and Tuesday to dispose of garbage, according to an earlier DPW announcement.

Here are the sites of the trucks:

●Fort Stevens Recreation Center, 1327 Van Buren St. NW

●Wilson High School, 3950 Chesapeake St. NW

●Trinidad Recreation Center, 1310 Childress St. NE

●Kelly Miller Middle School, 4900 Brooks St. NE
