Togo West, chairman of the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics, announced during a special meeting this morning that the body will make a decision today on Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's petition to allow unaffiliated voters to register as Democrats same day under new elections laws.
On Aug. 12, the board adopted emergency regulations to clarify the new laws that went into effect in February. Voters registered as "no party" cannot declare a party at the last minute to vote in the Sept. 14th primary, according to the regulations.
