After The Post published a story online yesterday noting that city councilman Marion Barry had put his ex-girlfriend on the city payroll, the councilman's team hastily put together an 11 p.m. press conference to address the article, saying nothing improper occurred.
During the news conference, Barry's spokeswoman also offered further evidence that the ex-girlfriend, Donna Watts-Brighthaupt -- whom he recently was accused of stalking -- was "unstable." Watts made a surprise appearance at that point, shouting repeatedly that comments by Barry's spokesman regarding psychiatric treatment weren't true.
