Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) is throwing a go-go bash on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast. The price of admission is a voter registration form. No one under 18 is allowed without a parent. And a team of security clad in black is checking bags.
After registering, guests get a green fentyreelect.com wristband.
Fenty friends Sinclair Skinner, Keith Lomax and Ron Moten, all involved in controversies over the past year, are in attendance. And the basketball court is filling up with people ready to hear Subtle Thoughts, Junkyard Band and EU featuring Sugar Bear.
Go-go entertainer Anwan "Big G" Glover, who appeared on "The Wire," said he supports the mayor "100 percent," pointing to Fenty's investment in recreation. "I'm a native Washingtonian. I done played on glass and rocks. This is the only mayor that rebuilt fields so children can play," he said.
