It's well known that Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, who completed a triathlon Sunday morning, is a jock.
But he also takes his passion for sports to the campaign trail.
To rally paid campaign workers and volunteers, Fenty organizes football-style huddles.
Fenty crouches in the middle of the group and yells chants, which are usually hard for those not in the circle to understand.
While Fenty chants, his supporters and volunteers often raise their hands in the air.
D.C. Wire first noticed the huddles at the Ward 6 Democratic Committee straw poll, where Fenty held two within 15 minutes to cheer up staff after he debated rival Vincent C. Gray.
The mayor also had campaign workers huddle around him Saturday at an event downtown before they canvassed city neighborhoods. D.C. Wire took a photograph.
On Sunday, Fenty and some campaign staffers held another huddle on 18th Street NW during the Adams Morgan Day festival.
The gatherings usually ended with the phrase, "one, two, three, Fenty."
