The mayor has been away, so he missed all the payday pandemonium for the summer jobs program, when thousands of student workers got underpaid, not paid at all---and in some cases, reportedly overpaid. As Michael Birnbaum writes this morning, it was City Administrator Dan Tangherlini who got the pleasure of working through all of those issues.
But Fenty isn't one for not having his say. The mayor is holding a news conference this afternoon at Benning Terrace in Southeast to give an update on the program. He'll be accompanied by several administration officials, including Summer Spencer, director of the Department of Employment Services, which runs the jobs program.
