Council member Kwame R. Brown (D-At Large), running unopposed on the ballot in the Sept. 9 Democratic primary, has already turned in his latest campaign finance report, due electronically by midnight.
He has passed the half-million dollar mark with the help of lots of $1,000 contributions from developers, including Douglas Jemal.
But one contribution sticks out: $250 from former Council member Harold Brazil.
Brown knocked out the longtime member in 2004 to win his current post. It was ugly.
That was then. "Actually, we're friends. Elections are elections, and I let bygones be bygones," Brown said.
So the $250 was welcome. "And he told me he would throw me a fundraiser," Brown said.
D.C. Wire is still waiting to hear from Brazil.
