D.C. Council member Jim Graham (D) announced Friday that he’s supporting his colleague, Vincent B. Orange, in Tuesday’s Democratic primary for an at-large seat on the council.
Graham, who has represented Ward 1 since 1999, said he is impressed with Orange’s “engagement on the issues.”
“I feel comfortable with him,” Graham said. “I feel he has a lot to offer the council.”

Orange went on Twitter to thank Graham for his support, noting that they worked together to create a permanent Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Affairs.
Graham is one two openly gay D.C. Council members.
While it’s common for council members to endorse a colleague, most members of the body are staying on the sidelines in Orange’s race against former council member Sekou Biddle, former Prince George’s County Council member Peter Shapiro and Ward 1 Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner E. Gail Anderson Holness.
But council members Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) and David A. Catania (I-At Large) are supporting Biddle.
