Community activist Phil Pannell is urging his local committee to join him in asking President Obama to include a nod to District voting rights in his State of the Union address.
Pannell started his Tuesday morning with an e-mail to members of the D.C. Democratic State Committee that he would introduce a resolution at the committee's Thursday meeting to send the president a certified letter with the request.
"Somehow I feel that a barrage of messages to President Obama could possibly receive national attention. At least it is worth a try and we do not have much time to organize to do it," Pannell wrote in his e-mail.
It looks like he's getting support through e-mail chatter. DC Vote was already planning to ask Obama to include a sentence, according to an e-mail from Executive Director Ilir Zherka.
