The District's new same-day voter registration law comes with a catch. Current registered voters can't change parties to vote in an election. In other words, if you're already a Republican, you can't register to vote as a Democrat at the last-minute.
Monday is the last day to change party affiliation for the Sept. 14 primary election to meet a 30-day requirement in the law. Voters can download a new voter registration application at www.dcboee.org or can change affiliation in person at the board's office.
