More than 7,500 voters affected by misprint on registration cards

The D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics -- grappling with early voting and new machines -- announced that 7,529 voters in four precincts were issued registration cards that listed them as living in the wrong ward.

According to the elections board, a vendor misinterpreted voter information to list the first digit of a voter's "single member district" as the ward where the voter resides.

The elections board will be distributing new cards to the voters affected. The cards are not necessary to vote but can make casting a ballot convenient and faster, said Alysoun McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the board.

The four single member districts and precincts affected are as follows:

Single Member District 3G01-4 (Precincts 51 and 52 in Ward 4)

Single Member District 6D01-2 (Precinct 129 in Ward 2)

Single Member District 3C01 (Precinct 136 in Ward 1).
