Post editorial board endorses Fenty for mayor

In one of its earliest decisions in a local election, The Washington Post's editorial board (an entity separate from the newsroom) endorsed the re-election of Mayor Adrian M. Fenty in his race against Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray.

It represents one of Fenty's first major endorsements of the campaign; Gray so far has been endorsed at least 18 unions or advocacy groups, including AFL-CIO, D.C. police and firefighter unions, the Gertrude Stein Club, several Teamsters locals, the National Association of Social Workers, the D.C. Association of Realtors, the D.C. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Government Employees, the District of Columbia Nurses Association and the Latino Caucus. Fenty's other endorsements include Laborers International Union and the Greater Washington Board of Trade.
