Power outage shuts down city’s DOES building

The District Department of Employment Services headquarters on Minnesota Avenue NE will be closed Monday because of a power outage, city officials said.

Though all One-Stop Career centers throughout the city will remain open for normal business until 4 p.m., the main office will only be open only to essential and emergency personnel.

The other offices are expected to “experience heavier than normal customer volume today,” according to a news release issued by the department.

The cause of the power outage was not immediately available.
