It may not get much emphasis today, given all the focus on the Supreme Court's gun ban decision, but D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty ( D) unveiled this morning a report that outlines how the city should spend $135 million in tobacco settlement money.
The independent Rand Corp., commissioned in 2006 to study how to best use the funds, recommends spending $90 million to expand urgent and primary care in the city's underserved areas.
Fenty and others, including respresentatives of Rand, held a news conference in front of the Unity Health Care at East of the River Center in Northeast.
The center could benefit from the $90 million recommendation.
