An afternoon water main break has interrupted voting at a polling place in Northeast Washington, officials said.
Rokey W. Suleman II, executive director of the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics, said the break caused fire officials to turn off electrical service at Precinct 67, Bunker Hill Elementary School in Brookland. A generator and auxiliary voting equipment are on their way to the school, he said.
A spokesman for D.C. Water said a 16-inch main ruptured nearby on 14th Street NE, affecting 50 homes and the school; no repair time was estimated. A Pepco spokesman said crews were en route to inspect the situation.
Voter have continued to cast paper ballots, Suleman said.
